CMI won Best Technology Award in the Gold Panel Awards 2010, which was organized by the Color Imaging Industry Promotion Office, Industrial Development Bureau, for its 5.5mm ultra-light local dimming LCD module. Not only is the product the world’s thinnest of its kind, it is also currently the best solution for ultra lightness/thinness, high contrast ratio and power efficiency. Winning the Outstanding Industry Contribution Awards was a well-deserved honor for CMI CEO Dr. H. C. Tuan. Dr. Tuan founded Taiwan's first TFT company – Unipac Optoelectronics Corporation, in 1990. It was Taiwan's first panel maker to go into mass production, establishing a stable foundation for the development of the TFT industry in Taiwan. In 2003, when Innolux Display was first established, Dr. Tuan, through his unique insight of the industry, immediately introduced a new thinking for managing the panel business – the “Innolux model”, which means having a greater demand from downstream assembly of system products than the production capacity of panels itself, an effective business model that has been emulated by competitors. In 2010, the successful merger of Innolux Display, TPO Displays and CMO has strengthened Taiwan's industrial competitiveness and provided an example for the FPD industry. Thus, Dr. Tuan was selected as the winner of Outstanding Industry Contribution Awards. CMI also won the Outstanding Photonics Product Award 2010, organized by the Photonics Industry & Technology Development Association (PIDA), for optimal integration of MEMC (Motion Estimation/ Motion Compensation) chip in its 42-inch 120Hz Full HD TV panel. In addition to providing optimal visual enjoyment from ultra high definition picture quality, its new, industry-first design creates an integrated structure from material preparation, production to sales, effectively decreasing total cost and time-to-market competitiveness for customers. |
